How Art Therapy is Helping Children and Young Adults with Autism
Parents and caregivers understand all too well that flexibility and problem-solving skills are just some of the things that challenge young people living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Research has shown that people with ASD think visually, in images. This makes Art Therapy a valuable tool in the development and personal growth of these children. Art Therapy gives those effected by ASD the ability to communicate and express their emotions in the format in which they experience them.
Art Therapy sessions are tailored to each individual, considering current development and challenges, along with the dynamics of the family unit. With the goal being to understand and regulate emotions, improve communication skills and build self-esteem
